Do the faces seem to emerge from the darkness the way music emerges from silence?
I asked musicians of very different ages, backgrounds and genres to bring their own music to life while, for once, giving up their usual sound-making instrument: to use the expressive possibilities of the face, to play with their faces.
The lens of my camera was the faithful microphone that recorded these performances.
Faced with these images, the viewer/listener can apply a notation system as new as it is deeply personal, and let echo inside their head, between one ear and the other, just behind the eyes, the sounds, rhythms and counterpoints that emerge from the eyes, the noses, the chins, the hairs of these scorefaces…
