Francesco “Ninni” Pepe
Born in 1956 in Fasano, in the province of Brindisi (Apulia), where he still lives. A reformed chartered accountant and a retired teacher.
He has been photographing since 1978. In the early 1980s he was a member of Spazio Immagine in Bari, visited “Viaggio in Italia” and took part in group exhibitions.
In the 1990s he attended workshops with several photographers: Gabriele Basilico, Gianni Berengo Gardin, Ferdinando Scianna, Giovanni Tavano, Cuchie White.
In 2001 he took part in Fotografia in Puglia, invited to the group exhibition “Una foto per Alberobello”.
In 2003 he was invited to Bari Fotografia, in the group exhibition “Corpo a corpo”.
In 2004 he was invited by Cosmo Laera to Alberobello Fotografia with the series ‘Verde sangue’.
In 2005 he exhibited the series ‘The men of family’ in Milan, at the Fabrica Eos gallery, curated by Denis Curti.
In 2013 he took part in the Fasano Jazz Festival with a series of portraits of musicians, ‘Scorefaces’.
In 2015, at the invitation of Pio Meledandri, he presented the series ‘La settimana santa breve’ at the Museo Foto Festival in Bari.
In 2016 he exhibited ‘The Form’s Machine’ at Still Fotografia in Milan, again for Denis Curti. The series was shown again in 2017 at the DGTales spaces in Martina Franca and in the group exhibition ‘Skin Deep’ at VisionQuest4rosso in Genoa, curated by Clelia Belgrado, and in 2018 in Bari at Professor Mimmo D’oria’s Alliance Française.
In 2017 he was a guest of Still Fotografia at MIA FAIR in Milan.
In 2022 he was a guest of Museo Nuova Era in Bari with the solo exhibition ‘Works in Regress’, curated by Rosemarie Sansonetti.
In 2025, at the Alliance Française in Bari, he presented ‘Fondus Enchantés’, curated by Professor Francesco Maggiore.
